Background
Citicoline is held in high regard as one of the best choline sources.[1] Choline, once an acetyl group is donated to it, forms acetylcholine which is an important neurotransmitter for memory. This is how Citicoline improves learning in aged volunteers.[2] What separates Citicoline or CDP-Choline from other choline sources is that it’s less likely to generate TMAO,[1] which is known to be associated with heart failure. This is why Alpha-GPC, but not Citicoline increased stroke risk by 800%.[3] Choline is an important dietary nutrient that some are deficient in, and acetylcholine is a primary target in preventing Alzheimer’s. Increasing acetylcholine has been shown to enhance the memory improvement by other nootropics, such as Tropisetron and Piracetam. We hope to encourage research by allowing researchers to buy Citicoline.
Pharmacokinetics
Citicoline’s oral bioavailability is nearly 100%, and it is well absorbed.
