Background
Citicoline (CDP-choline, cytidine diphosphate-choline) is an intermediate in the synthesis of phosphatidylcholine and a source of choline, the precursor of acetylcholine. Compared with other choline sources, it generates less trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) [1].
